Action Voices is a movement aimed at promoting local governance through the use of innovative ICT-mediated solutions to facilitate active engagement and participation of citizens in decision-making. We seek among others to amplify citizens’ voice to demand improved public service delivery; promote gender equality and social inclusion to influence local level democracy and responsive governance. The overall objective is to deepen citizen-government partnership at the local level. We employ offline and online solutions including a toll-free call center service, USSD and web platforms to get citizens connected with their local authorities in real time. Our user-friendly platforms provide limitless opportunities for all persons to send complaints, requests, and suggestions, questions to district officials and receive feedback. When you submit a case through any of our mobile platforms, it goes directly to the District officer responsible to act on your case on a dashboard and instantly he or she is notified via email/SMS alert. All cases and feedback are tracked and monitored through a system called Communication and Feedback Tracking System (CFTS).
Our integrated platforms (offline/online) enable citizens to make inputs into their District Budget and Development Planning and can file a report to the Public Relations and Complaint Committee (PRCC) against any District official who misconducts him or herself. Our innovative ICT-systems provide opportunity for District Assemblies to engage and share relevant information with the people.
Also our platforms provide opportunity for elected Assembly Members to effectively engage with their electorates as required by legal framework of the local government act.
Our Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) platform provides opportunity for citizens who do not have access to internet to send complaints/concerns to District Officials in real time. You just dial *1030# and follow the prompt. Citizens can use the USSD to report a case or make input into district decisions. Immediately one submits a case, the duty officer responsible will receive an SMS/email alert to attend to the complaint within 72 hours. Details of citizens’ complaints and feedback from District officials are monitored and made accessible to the public on our website.
Our web platform is mobile responsive with a simple login interface which enables you to connect easily with your District officials on your dashboard. You can navigate from your dashboard to access other information such as District Officials’ Profile, Citizen News, District forum, district project and programs among others.
Our toll free platform provides opportunity for the uneducated and poor communities where internet connectivity is a challenge. Our call centre is manned by well-trained professionals who speak multiple local languages. They process caller complaint and submit it through the CFTS to the right official for action. Where the caller cannot read, feedback from officials via email and SMS is relayed to the caller in his or her local language.
